What has happened to oatmeal?
I don’t want this to sound like one of those “…back when I was your age type of stories, but I’m afraid that’s impossible.
I gave the kids oatmeal for breakfast this morning. When I was a kid, there were two flavors of oatmeal available: Cardboard Box and Cardboard Box with Apple. If you were lucky enough to get one of those shriveled, dehydrated, chicklet-sized shreds of apple, you knew it was going to be a good day. You chewed that thing for every last bit of sweetness it was going to give up.
Flash forward thirty years. Grace’s oatmeal this morning was “Cinnamon Roll. William had “Banana Bread. I had to try each one and they tasted just like a cinnamon roll and a slice of warm banana bread. Lucky dogs.

Too funny! Alex had Bananas and Cream this morning. He also likes Strawberries and Cream. Where were these things when we were forcing oatmeal down every morning?

At the risk of kids reading this, I’ve never eaten oatmeal. My own mom tried to force it down me a couple of times by threatening to make me sit at the table until it was finished. When the prospect of missing school came up because I was still sitting there, she gave up.
My teenage daughter loves it, and will eat just about any flavor, including regular, but not me!

My kids HATE oatmeal. I don’t like it either but I always try to give it to them because it seems like such a nice morning meal.

Excuse, and what you think concerning forthcoming elections?

I think that politicians should be judged by their actions, not their words. I just hope the next president pushes for more UN intervention, instead of just getting the US and UK involved.
